Coffee and Clay: Beginning Wheel
Have you always wanted to try pottery, but aren't sure where to start? In this class, students will begin with a few handbuilding techniques such as pinch, slab and coil, then move to the pottery wheel. You’ll learn how to center, cone, pull, shape and trim shapes such as cups, bowls and other vessels.
Basic aspects of clay firing and glazing will be covered. You’ll leave with a variety of skills in your repertoire to continue creating with clay. A fun and engaging way to spark your imagination. No prior experience with clay is necessary. Coffee and tea will be on hand to wake up our morning!
Monday 9:30-11:00 a.m.
Cost: $115 plus $20 materials fee, includes 15 hours of flexible open studio time to practice on the wheel.

Community Open Studio
Drop-In
In this adult drop-in class, we’ll explore a variety of arts—painting, collage, printmaking and more! We offer both an afternoon and an evening option. We’re working to create a comfortable, supportive and inclusive environment where adults of all abilities are able to experiment and create. We’ll have special art tools and adaptations for adults with disabilities. No prior art experience is necessary!
Due to a generous grant from the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council, some scholarship funds are available, Please ask for further information to see if you qualify.

Evening Pottery Wheel: Beginning and Beyond (CLASS IS FULL)
In this class, we’ll learn/refresh the basics of wheel throwing and how to center, open, pull, shape and trim shapes such as cups, bowls and other vessels. Basic aspects of clay firing and glazing will be covered. Plenty of flexible open studio time is provided so students can experiment and practice what they learn. You’ll leave with a variety of skills in your repertoire to continue creating with clay. A fun and relaxing way to an autumn evening! We provide lots of one-on-one instruction, so a variety of abilities is welcomed.

Creative Mojo
4 weeks (session I and II)
Want to discover or rediscover your creative side but don’t know where to begin? Or simply want to have an artistic outlet once a week and give time to yourself? Join us for this weekly workshop where you'll get to explore paths to creativity through a variety of art forms. Join Johamy Morales as she guides you through unique yoga, writing, theatre, and ensemble work. No experience is necessary. All you need to bring is a journal and wear loose, comfortable clothes.
4 Tuesdays (Session I: Sept 25-Oct 16), 6:30-8:00 p.m. (Session II: Oct 23-Nov 13)
