Artful Cooking

Artful Cooking

(2 weeks)

All classes are on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Two exciting classes in one! Do you LOVE to cook, discover new places, and make unique pottery?  Join us for this exciting new class that combines the best of both worlds—food and art!  We’ll learn to hand build clay cookie jars, platters, and stoneware dishes at Blackbird Arts, then glaze and kiln fire them.  For the second date, we’ll move to the kitchens at The Childrens House (TCH) for a hands-on cooking class exploring food traditions near and far.  By the end of the evening, you’ll take home your freshly fired pottery, some great new recipes and food to share with friends!

Session I (Family Friendly): Fancy Platters and World Holiday Cookies

Explore celebration sweets from around the world. Participants will create unique platters with Phil Wilson at Blackbird Arts and learn a variety of ways to decorate them.  For the second session, we'll move to the kitchen at TCH and and mix, mold, shape and bake some platter-worthy cookies from around the world. Each participant will take home samples of the other groups' cookies (like a cookie exchange!) on your newly fired platter. Participants will create a recipe book with all their new treats.
